What gear can I hire from WATSUP Waiheke?

We rent out everything you need for a world-class beach day:

- Paddleboards (SUPs) — stable boards for every skill level.

- Kayaks — single, double, and clear-bottom models.

- Snorkel sets — mask, snorkel & fins to explore our rocky coves.

- Surf & bodyboards — for those little Onetangi swells.

- Beach cabanas & umbrellas — shade that looks great on the ’gram.

- Deck chairs & blankets — kick-back comfort.

- Inflatable Sea Biscuit - Tow the kids (or big kids) around the bay

- e-Bikes (via our mates at eRide Waiheke) — cruise the island between swims.

All hires include the required safety gear (life-jackets, helmets, paddles, etc.) at no extra cost.

How do I book, and do I need to book in advance?

- Online: book 24/7 on our website for instant confirmation.

- Phone: call us on 0800 92 8787 and we’ll lock you in.

- Walk-up: feeling spontaneous? Cruise over to our Onetangi Beach HQ and rent on the spot.

Summer can get busy, so pre-booking is the safest way to guarantee the gear you want.

Where are you located and when are you open?

Our HQ — the WATSUP Beach Shack — sits at 29 The Strand, Onetangi Beach (right across the road from the sand).

We’re usually open 7 days, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm in peak season or by appointment in winter. Check our socials or give us a ring if the weather looks a bit iffy.

How do I get there?

- e-Bike: Pick up a bike from eRide Waiheke at the ferry terminal and enjoy a scenic 40-min ride.

- Bus: Hop on the Onetangi bus from Matiatia; hop off at “Fourth Ave/The Strand.” Two-minute stroll and you’re here.

- Car: 10 - 15 min drive from the wharf; free street parking along The Strand. - Taxi/Shuttle: Around $30–$40 each way if you’d rather be chauffeured. Give our recommended taxi service a call on 0204 177 0704 - Executive Taxis Waiheke.

Can you deliver gear to my bach or a different beach?

Yes — delivery to most beaches is available. A delivery fee applies (pricing depends on distance and how much gear you need). Tell us where you’re staying, and we’ll quote the fee and handle the logistics. Minimum 24 hours notice is required.

Do you set up for parties, weddings, or group days?

We sure do. Check out our sister site waihekebeachrentals.co.nz or contact us with your vision and we’ll price it up.

What’s your weather & cancellation policy?

If the weather turns nasty and we cancel, you choose: full refund or reschedule.

Need to cancel? Give us as much notice as you can — full refunds for bookings cancelled at least 48 hours ahead; 50% refund at least 24 hours ahead,after that we’ll do our best to reschedule.

Any age limits or safety rules I should know?

- Life-jackets must be worn on all kayaks, SUPs and bodyboards. Helmets for e-bikes are mandatory.

- Under 15s must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver and supervise them at all times while using the gear.

- Basic swimming ability is recommended for water equipment.

Is there a bond or deposit? What if I damage something?

Most hires don’t need a bond, but a bond may be required for high-value items, long hires or large group bookings. Normal wear-and-tear is on us; significant damage or loss is on the renter. Treat the gear like your own and we’ll have zero issues.
